Thank you Ruthann and Larry for posting this here!
Trellis members may be especially interested in the Raffle. The Grand Prize is 4 hours of a garden work crew, plus a preliminary consultation, in the winner's garden.
Also on February 25th Transition Snoqualmie Valley will host a Seed Saving Class for Home Gardeners, from 10am to 12:30pm. More information at the Transition Snoqualmie Valley website, link above.
I would love to participate in the seed exchange and I do have a seeds that I could contribute, but I don't know much about of the particular on the seeds. At least the ones that I saved. I just know that they worked for me last year. Do I need to know more to contribute them to the seed exchange? Also is there a cost in participating? I have never done a seed exchange before, but it sounds like a wonderful idea.
There is no cost to participate, but we will happily accept a few dollars if people are moved to donate! All you need to know about the seeds you are bringing to exchange is the species (carrot, bean, cosmos, etc.) and if possible the variety. The more information you can offer, the better, but it isn't required. It is useful to know the year that the seeds were collected, as age can affect germination rates. Last year we had the whole gamut of donations, from carefully sorted, hand packed in small packets, and labeled, as well as some brought in still on the dry stems. To me, that range of seed donations was part of the fun.
