Event Description

From Carol:
Did you know that orchard mason bees:

Don't live in hives/swarms - they're not social like honey bees). Instead they like to live in teeny-tiny hidey holes wherever they can find them and use mud to build their nests (hence their name).
Are harmless (don't sting) so we can hang around them with no worries.
Are VERY efficient pollinators (takes about 250 orchard mason bees to pollinate a 1 acre orchard vs 40,000 honey bees).
Are a fun way to introduce kids to the natural cycles in a garden.

Curious to learn more? Well come and see Missy Anderson give her lively and entertaining presentation on these cool little critters! There may also be an opportunity for you to take part in establishing a mason bee presence in your own garden.... come to learn more!

Any and all are welcome! Bring the kids....

Missy Anderson, a mason bee farmer, has been a Master Gardener since 2005 and began giving her bee presentations in 2006. A wonderful fun hobby became a great outlet for her to volunteer and help others learn about the marvelous mason bee. Missy will open our eyes to the wonders of these cool little critters and show us how we can help support our native pollinators.

If you are unable to attend this presentation, you can catch Missy at one her other scheduled events. They are all free and open to the public.
