Sharing our knowledge of vegetable gardening in the Snoqualmie Valley area

On sunday, January 20th, 2019, I left a bucket with grape vine cuttings at my Fall CIty garden behind the house at 33625 SE 43rd Place, diagonally across from the First Methodist Church.

These cuttings are from a red/pink table grape, a bit small but very sweet. I don't know a name for their variety because I cut the original canes from vines growing nearby and planted years ago. The successful vines are vigorous and prolific. It takes 2-3 years for one to be productive.

See http://bunchgrapes.com for several ways to root these cuttings. A few hints:

  • Cover the portion of each cutting that you put in soil with a rooting hormone.
  • Successful rooting isn't assured (my success rate ranges from 40% to 60%).
  • It will take some time before you see leaves forming in a cane.
