Sharing our knowledge of vegetable gardening in the Snoqualmie Valley area

I found these bees pollinating my blackberries and raspberries, but they are living in the ground it seems. Any idea what they are?

It's a bumble bee of some kind, who do tend to nest in the ground.  There is a good identification guide for our local bumble bees here, which is part of a citizen science project to track/map PNW bumble bees.  From the body colors it looks like it could be a Fuzzy-horned bumble bee(B. mixtus)?

I notice a lot of bumble bees in my berries, too.

I'm not sure what insect you saw. Lots of pollinators live in the ground, even Mason bees will choose an undisturbed spot in the garden. And there are lots of other pollinators that live in the ground.
